I provide professional development services to faculty members and other campus leaders at U.S. universities and colleges seeking to translate their commitment to inclusivity, equity, and/or antiracism to their everyday work processes and self and community-care practices. I offer my services in two formats: one-on-one coaching or group coaching sessions.
Professional Development Services for Faculty Members and Other Campus Leaders
One-on-one coaching
When providing one-on-one coaching services to current faculty members and/or campus leaders, I begin with an hour-long intake session where I inquire about your present-day commitment to inclusivity, equity, and/or antiracism, workplace culture, desired goals, and any perceived barriers to your development in this area. Following this intake session, we will use the S.M.A.R.T method to define a goal that is measurable and achievable within a specified timeline. During this session, I strongly advise encourage clients to focus on one workplace role at a time (e.g., either teaching, research, leadership, or service but not more than one at the same time). Across approximately three to four follow-up sessions, I will serve as your thought partner and workplace strategist. When we meet, you will provide progress reports and I will help you strategize problems/dynamics that arise as part of your journey.
Group workshops
When providing group coaching sessions, I offer signature YCC workshops or tailored YCC group sessions that are designed to meet the specific needs of groups and organizations. When conducting this work, I employ my R.E.M.O.V.E.D method. I created this method based on what I learned about active listening and empathetic dialogue from sociological and psychological research.
Signature YCC workshops cover topics related to antiracism and equity in university learning spaces ranging from the classroom to residential dorms. These workshops provide concrete strategies and/or calls to action that attendees can immediately incorporate into their current work processes or use to develop a revised set of organizational best practices.
Tailored YCC group sessions begin with an hour-long strategy session where I gain insight into the "need to know" information about your organizational context. During this meeting, I also inquire about the specific skill or takeaway meeting organizers would like attendees to possess after attending the session. After this meeting, I design an hour to 90-minute session to meet the needs of your group. This session will include examples and case studies that are realistic to your organizational context. Where necessary, I will also craft post-meeting discussion questions that session organizers can use to facilitate a follow up session where group members determine appropriate next steps.
